IHM Discussion
The link centres on a player who already knows both the league and the demands of playing for a leading ICEHL side. Lewington’s Salzburg spell brought sustained success, while his regular-season production shows that he contributed beyond a purely defensive brief.
There is also a connection between Lewington and Ljubljana head coach Cooper, who previously worked in Salzburg. That familiarity may make the proposed move plausible, but it does not elevate the report beyond its current status as a rumour.
Why It Matters
For Olimpija Ljubljana, the possibility concerns a proven ICEHL defenceman entering the market rather than an unfamiliar import. Lewington’s right-shot profile and extensive league experience would give the club a clearly established body of work to consider.
For Lewington, a move would represent a return to a competition in which he won three titles and played 173 regular-season matches. Until either side confirms an agreement, however, the connection remains only a reported possibility.
