IHM Discussion
The injury removes both Frankfurt’s captain and one of their more productive contributors from defence for an extended period. Matushkin’s place on the internal scoring list shows that his value has reached beyond his own end, with regular offensive involvement adding to his responsibilities as team captain.
Frankfurt must now redistribute those duties across the squad. The immediate challenge is not simply filling a position on defence, but covering his contribution in attack while other players share the leadership burden during his rehabilitation.
Why It Matters
A projected absence of roughly three months is a substantial interruption to Frankfurt’s season, particularly for a defenceman who has contributed six points in 12 games. The club will be without a captain who has been a regular source of offence from the back end, while Matushkin’s return timetable remains dependent on his healing progress.
