Mammoth answer each Maple Leafs rally in 3-2 win

Match date: 4 November 2026.

Final score: Maple Leafs 2, Mammoth 3.

The Maple Leafs twice drew level, but the Mammoth had a reply on each occasion to take a 3-2 road win on 4 November. N. Schmaltz’s third-period goal settled a tight contest in which C. Keller supplied all three Mammoth assists.

Game Story

The Mammoth struck late in the first period when D. Guenther scored at 19:47, assisted by M. Sergachev and C. Keller, to carry a 1-0 lead into the interval.

Toronto found its answer midway through the second. J. Roslovic levelled at 10:20 from A. Matthews, only for the Mammoth to restore their advantage 3:22 later. A. Peeke scored at 13:42, with C. Keller and A. Lee collecting the assists.

Roslovic again brought the Maple Leafs back at 9:05 of the third, finishing with assists from A. Matthews and M. Rielly. It set up a one-goal finish, but the Mammoth were back in front at 13:12. N. Schmaltz scored the winner, assisted by C. Keller and M. Sergachev.

There was no further scoring as the Mammoth closed out a match in which neither side led by more than one goal.

Turning Point

The decisive sequence came after J. Roslovic’s second goal tied the game 2-2 at 9:05 of the third. The Mammoth did not allow the equaliser to become a prolonged swing in Toronto’s favour, and N. Schmaltz restored their lead at 13:12. That goal stood as the winner.

Standout Performers

C. Keller drove the Mammoth attack with three assists, one on each of their goals. M. Sergachev added two assists, setting up the opening goal and the winner. For Toronto, J. Roslovic scored both goals, while A. Matthews assisted on each of them. In goal, S. Cossa made 27 saves for the Mammoth; S. Bobrovsky stopped 33 of 36 shots for the Maple Leafs.

Tactical Observations

This was a game of responses rather than sustained separation. The Mammoth scored once in each period and regained the lead soon after both Toronto equalisers. Their ability to convert three of 36 shots gave them the narrow edge, while S. Cossa’s 27 saves protected it. Toronto generated 29 shots and received both goals from J. Roslovic, but could not find a third equaliser after N. Schmaltz put the visitors ahead for good.

Coach Mark Comment

C. Keller’s three assists tell a pleasingly steady story. He was involved in the Mammoth’s late first-period opener, helped A. Peeke answer the first Toronto equaliser, then supplied the pass on N. Schmaltz’s winner after the second one. That is not one hot burst that disappears when the game tightens. It is a player remaining useful as the score keeps changing and every attacking touch carries a little more weight. The Maple Leafs made the Mammoth earn the result twice, which is why Keller’s final assist has extra value. He was still helping shape the game when it needed one clean difference.

What It Means

The Mammoth left with a one-goal victory built on answering both Maple Leafs comebacks. C. Keller’s three-assist night was central to that outcome, while Toronto’s two-goal contribution from J. Roslovic was not enough to turn its two equalisers into a lead.

What Comes Next

For the Maple Leafs, the immediate question is how to turn a competitive shot total and two successful recoveries into the goal that changes a tight game in their favour. The Mammoth can take confidence from having found a response each time Toronto levelled.
