IHM Discussion
Kladno have moved quickly to retain a key part of their defence during the international break. Mendel’s extension gives the club continuity on the blue line while confirming its desire to keep together players already familiar with its environment.
His 124 Extraliga appearances provide a meaningful body of work, while his 27 points show that he has contributed beyond purely defensive duties. The sequence of extensions also includes forward Jakub Konečný and Daniel Audette, making Mendel the latest established player to commit his future to the club.
Why It Matters
Keeping Mendel removes uncertainty around an experienced, heavily used defenceman. His standing as Kladno’s third most-used blue-liner this season underlines his regular involvement, and the deal runs beyond the immediate term to 2029.
For Kladno, retaining a player with two seasons already spent at the club preserves familiarity within the defence as the organisation continues its work with a core group already under contract.
